Will the Anti Smoking Law in England Drive Bingo Enthusiasts Online?

Much has been written in the press just a while ago about the bingo industry being hurt because of the cigarette ban in England. Things have grown so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded massive aid to assist in keeping the industry from going bankrupt. However can the online adaptation of this classic game present a salvation, or might it never compare to its bricks and mortar relative?

Bingo is an familiar game normally played by the "blue rinse" generation. For all that the game of late had seen a recent resurgence in acceptance with younger members of society deciding to go to the bingo parlors rather than the clubs on a weekend. All this is about to be destroyed with the enforcement of the anti smoking law around UK.

No longer will enthusiasts be permitted to puff on cigarettes whilst dabbing numbers. Starting in the summer of 2007 every public location will no longer be permitted to allow smoking in their locations and this includes Bingo parlours, one of the most favorite places where players enjoy smoking.

The results of the smoking ban can already be felt in Scotland where cigarettes are already barred in the bingo parlours. Numbers have plummeted and the industry is beyond a doubt struggling for to stay alive. But where have all the players gone? Certainly they haven’t given up on this established game?

The answer is on the net. Players know that they can enjoy bingo from their computer while enjoying a beer and cigarette and still enjoy monstrous prizes. This is a recent development and has timed itself bordering on perfect with the ban on cigarettes.

Of course gambling on on the internet is unlikely to replace the collective part of heading over to the bingo hall, but for a demographic of people the law has left a lot of bingo players with no option.
