Oklahoma has for a long time been synonymous with Bingo. This is because the Native bands of Oklahoma have operated Bingo games for generations. Patrons from many of the neighboring states load up in cars and travel to Oklahoma to gamble on Bingo over the weekends.
The 1988 (IGRA) Indian Gaming Regulatory Act became law after a landmark decision by The U.S. Supreme Court just the year before. Since that time, twenty three of the thirty nine American Indian tribes located in Oklahoma have established gambling halls. The Chickasaw were the initial Oklahoma Native band to take advantage of the betting rules, and at this time operate ten gambling dens of their own. Bingo was the game on which the above-mentioned gambling dens were built on. Electronic games such as one armed bandits weren’t approved, because they are thought to lead to gambling addiction more than bingo.
In recent years, Oklahoma rules have altered to allow for enormous Amerindian gambling gambling dens. You will now discover Amerindian gambling halls with slots, video poker and vingt-et-un tables. Craps and roulette are not allowed in the Indian casinos yet, but that is only a waiting game. Nobody can determine what having different games in the bingo parlors will do for the draw of bingo.
