Oklahoma has long been analogous with Bingo. That is due to the fact that the American Indian bands of Oklahoma have operated Bingo sessions for years. Guests from each of the surrounding states pile in cars and visit Oklahoma to play Bingo on the weekends.
The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act followed a benchmark decision by The U.S. Supreme Court just the prior year. Since that instance, 23 of the 39 Native bands of Oklahoma have established gambling halls. The Chickasaw were the initial Oklahoma American Indian band to take advantage of the gaming laws, and today control ten gambling halls of their very own. Bingo was the game on which these gambling halls were built on. Electronic games such as slot machines weren’t approved, on the grounds that they are believed to contribute to gambling dependency at a higher rate than bingo.
In the past few years, Oklahoma governing edicts has changed to permit big Native betting gambling halls. You will now see American Indian casinos with slot machines, video poker and 21 tables. Craps and roulette are still not legal in the American Indian gambling dens yet, however that is only a waiting game. Nobody can say whether having different gambling den games in the bingo houses will do for the popularity of bingo.
