Oklahoma Bingo

[ English ]

Oklahoma has for a long time been synonymous with Bingo. That is due to the fact that the Amerindian tribes of Oklahoma have run Bingo games for years. Patrons from each of the neighboring states get in passenger cars and travel to Oklahoma to enjoy Bingo over the weekends.

The 1988 IGRA was introduced after a precedent setting determination by The U.S. Supreme Court the year prior. Since that instance, 23 of the thirty nine Indian bands of Oklahoma have opened gaming halls. The Chickasaw were the initial Oklahoma Amerindian band to take advantage of the gaming restrictions, and today run 10 casinos of their own. Bingo is the game on which the above-mentioned gambling halls were founded. computerized games like one armed bandits were not approved, due to the fact that they are thought to contribute to gambling problems at a higher rate than bingo.

In recent years, Oklahoma governing edicts have altered to permit large Native wagering gambling halls. You will now find American Indian gambling halls with slot machine games, video poker and black jack tables. Craps and roulette are still not allowed in the American Indian casinos yet, although this is simply a matter of time. No one can say with what having other casino games in the bingo houses will do for the draw of bingo.
